In a bid to compete with the likes of DHL and FedEx, Walmart has been trialling a paper plate delivery service.
The company says the plates are “perfect for all occasions”.
Walmart’s paper plates are currently in the mail, but the company says it plans to start shipping them by courier in the coming months.
The company has launched a “Dinnerplate” initiative that lets customers choose from a variety of delivery options.
Customers can pick from a range of delivery methods including ground delivery, air courier, courier service, online and by calling a toll free number to set up a delivery.
The service will be offered by two delivery carriers, Walmart and FedEx.
Walton says the paper plates will be delivered by two carriers and can be picked up at a Walmart store in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and Washington, DC.
Diners are already signing up for the service, with many using the company’s new app for ordering the plates.
“We are excited to be able to offer this innovative service to our customers,” Walmart’s Chief Marketing Officer for Dining, Delivery & Transportation, Dan DeBakey, said in a statement.
