The license plate of the restaurant where the search is conducted in Dallas was found to have been stolen and sold for $15,000, according to records obtained by The Wall St. Journal.
The owner of the establishment is being sued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Dallas and has not yet made a statement.
In addition to the restaurant, a Texas law enforcement official told the Journal that two license plate readers were seized in the investigation and that one was found on the restaurant’s roof.
The plates were recovered in July, the second in late August.
The restaurant has two licensed plates: one with a plate number of 624-906-2488 and the other with a license plate number for an address in Texas that has not been revealed.
The license plates were found in a house in Dallas.
According to the Texas Attorney General’s office, the license plates have been reported stolen in three states.
